STREET ART
I woke in the early hours and peered at the luminous hands of my watch. Not much use going back to sleep at 6.10 a.m. and anyway it would be a good opportunity to browse the internet. Once settled in my chair, wreathed in rugs, it dawned on me that I had got the hands of my watch mixed up....... yet again. It was actually 2.30 a.m....not 6.10 a.m. but by then I was far too interested in what was on my computer screen to go back to bed.
Snuggling deeper into the rugs (it's rather chilly), I enjoyed a few hours on Wooster Collective , a wonderful site that "celebrates street art".
People from all over the world send in photographs of the art they have seen on the streets or of the art they have created themselves.
Most of the time I stare with mouth agape.
I have a good giggle too.
The art is phenomenal!
thanks for this link...
ReplyDeleteThey are amazing!
ReplyDeleteThese were so great!! Loved the sign on the garage doors! :)
ReplyDeleteI like street art a lot, it is always great to see that art actually can exist out of galleries and museums.
ReplyDeleteI giggled to read your clock mix up. You know you are addicted to the internet when you begin waking at 2 in the morning and would rather surf than sleep.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to go chase the link. Just wanted to say Hi, I was here first.
R ~ these are truly brilliant ~ as it happens I have just purchased a book called 'street sketchbook' by Tristan Manco, Thames and Hudson ~ you may know it. Basically it's pages taken from street artists' sketchbooks and blurb about their thought process and a bit of their background too.
ReplyDeleteIt'sa very, very good.
I just began a stencil course, learning ways to get the art out there, comment, dissent, etc in ways that wont get you arrested... and love the wooster collective, especially the work of Banksy. His social commentary is razor sharp. . I love snuggling in bed with the lap top, blogging. Beloved complained it cut into our "schnoogle" time, that I was diluting this quality time with him, and called it a "bloogle". ha ha..think that one will stick.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this wonderful link and a good chuckle at some of the images you posted. We can always count on you to share lots of good stuff! It has inspired me to keep my eyes open for some good street art in my area!
ReplyDelete2:30 A.M.???? No chance of me making THAT mistake LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove the picures..thanks for the link! I get a kick out of the way people manage to get their art 'out' when no one is looking....and the fact that they can cover an entire side of a building amazes me!
Wow, amazing art. Thanks for sharing. I couldn't imainge being patient enough, let alone creative enough, to produce such works of art!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robyn, for the great link.
ReplyDeleteI was only just recently discussing "street art" with a friend...you must have read my mind.
Great images...makes me want to do some!
Aren't they brilliant? There is such a variety of different styles and amazing talent on Wooster Collective. Every time I thought I had seen the best art on the site something better would pop up. I couldn't believe the ones of the little boys from S. Korea.
ReplyDeleteViv, I havn't read that book but it will probably end up on my wish list. I like the fact that they mention background and thought process.
Stephanie, its been very dark here at 6.oo a.m. but I noticed this morning that it's getting lighter much earlier now that Spring is around the corner.
Grrl...LOL...I will go and look up Banksy on Wooster.
Thanks everyone for stopping to look and comment.
i LOVE street art -- any kind of guerilla art that's out there for the world to enjoy and interact with! all of these are so great, so inspirational...
ReplyDeleteYou have such amazing links Robyn!
