COMPLETE

It's not often that I finish a piece and feel completely comfortable with it. Most times it takes a week or two to tweak and adjust before I'm satisfied. Maybe tomorrow I will feel differently but today I feel complete.

  20. Wow! What a magnificent piece! Your work is so inspiring.
I love the ash tones mixed with the earthy rusted elements and the textural qualities and clean orderly lines of the whole piece.

I think that the part of your work that speaks to me the most is your ability to form such large scale pieces out of smaller objects and yet you make everything cohesive and relative to one another.

This truly is a fine piece, kudos to you!

  25. This looks like a large piece with so many different places to look and wonder. I know what you mean when you finish a piece and fill 'complete'. Sometimes this feeling holds up days later and sometimes objectivity sets in and I can critique it better. But this piece holds up complete right now.

  36. Thanks everybody for the amazing comments! This blogging world is so supportive and I really value your feedback and encouragement.

Oogleboops, it was quite time consuming . I'm not sure exactly how long it took but I worked on it for a month, whenever I had the time. The dimensions are 70cm x 66cm.

Sharmon, I have a few small commissions to do before starting another totem.

Thomas, it takes about a month to do this... designing it, making the door from scratch and then carving and embellishing.

  37. I agree with others - a true masterpiece :) I also love the tree - you should make a carving of that tree by itself as well :)
